Areas of Practice: Patents

Ms. Kwok is an associate at Roberts Mlotkowski Safran & Cole, P.C. A registered patent attorney, Ms. Kwok specializes in patent law and her practice includes counseling clients on a wide variety of domestic and foreign patent procurement and enforcement issues, as well as intellectual property strategy and licensing issues. She is experienced in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the area of chemistry and life sciences. Ms. Kwok also has experience in preparing validity, infringement, freedom-to-operate and patentability opinions. As a native speaker of Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese, Ms. Kwok has assisted U.S. companies in dealing with intellectual property issues they encountered in China.

Ms. Kwok received her Juris Doctor, with a concentration in intellectual property, from Franklin Pierce Law Center (currently known as University of New Hampshire School of Law). She is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Ms. Kwok received her Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of California at Irvine, with a focus in organic chemistry.

After earning her B.S. degree, Ms. Kwok worked as a synthetic organic chemist in the neurosciences group of Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research Institute. She also attended a special program at University of California, San Diego, on Drug Discovery and Development with a focus on Computer Aided Drug Design.

Ms. Kwok is an author of "IP Strategy for Research Tools," Germshausen Center Newsletter, Winter/Spring 2005. She is a named inventor of several chemical patents including Heterocyclic Compounds (U.S. Patent Nos. 7,645,758; 7,226,938 and 6,803,362), Fused Heterocyclic Compounds (U.S. Patent No. 7,897,771 and 7,402,680) and Thiophene of Furan Pyrrolidine Compounds (U.S. Patent No. 6,638,967). She is also co-author of several articles in scientific journals including "The first potent and selective non-imidazole human histamine H4 receptor antagonists," J. Med. Chem. 2003, 46, 3957-60.

Ms. Kwok is a member of Asian Pacific American Bar Association and serves as a Treasurer for the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 board. She is also a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, American Bar Association, National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, and American Chemical Society.
