Areas of Practice: Patents

Mr. Adawi’s practice focuses on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the electrical, mechanical, and computer arts.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Adawi gained substantial knowledge of both the state and federal judiciary in New Jersey. As the law clerk to the Honorable Miguel A. de la Carrera, Mr. Adawi reviewed statutes and case law in order to assist in adjudicating matters before the Court. Mr. Adawi also served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Michael Shipp, U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey where he researched and analyzed discovery disputes related to pending patent litigation matters, including compliance issues with the Local Patent Rules for the District of New Jersey. Additionally, Mr. Adawi was a summer associate with an IP boutique firm. In that capacity, he conducted legal research and drafted memoranda related to various aspects of patent litigation, and he analyzed prior art to assist with formulating invalidity and obviousness arguments. Mr. Adawi also served as a patent prosecution extern with the Technology Transfer Office at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. In this position, he reviewed invention disclosures, conducted prior art searches, and prepared patentability analyses.

As a hardware engineer intern with Fujitsu Network Communications, Mr. Adawi reviewed design specifications for networking hardware and programmed device components. Additionally, for his senior design project, Mr. Adawi researched methods to reduce the size of fiber optics in certain technologies. In the process, he conducted tests to characterize the performance of the system and designed a model emulating those characteristics with a smaller fiber optic bundle.
