Peter W. Roberts is a founding member of Roberts Mlotkowski Safran & Cole and has over 35 years experience in the intellectual property field both in Europe and the United States.

Mr. Roberts is the chair of the Chemistry and Biotechnology Group of Roberts Mlotkowski & Hobbes and has an extensive practice that covers all areas of the procurement and licensing of patents in the chemical, pharmaceutical and biochemical fields.  He also counsels a number of major US companies on patent validity and infringement issues.

Prior to the formation of Roberts Mlotkowski Safran & Cole, Mr. Roberts spent almost 20 years in the Intellectual Property Group of Mobil Oil Corporation where he worked in all technology areas of the company, including downstream, upstream and plastic films.  Most recently, he was Senior Counsel for a group charged with handling the patent procurement, counseling and technology transfer for Mobil's zeolite catalysis and aromatics technologies.  During his tenure at Mobil, Mr. Roberts managed major patent litigations in Canada and Japan, directed Mobil's European patent function and represented Mobil in European oppositions and appeals.

Before joining Mobil Oil Corporation, Mr. Roberts was a partner in the British patent firm of Marks & Clerk, where he handled the patent procurement effort for a major British automotive parts manufacturer, participated in a major British High Court patent infringement action and spent time running the firm's office in Munich, Germany.

Educated at Oxford University in England, Mr. Roberts holds a Masters Degree in Chemistry.  He obtained his J.D. degree, cum laude, from George Washington University.  Mr. Roberts is also a British Chartered Patent Agent and is a qualified European Patent Attorney.
