Areas of Practice: Patents (Utility and Design), Opinions and Litigation

Mr. Rothwell prepares and prosecutes patent applications in the electromechanical, mechanical and biotechnology fields. Mr. Rothwell is also experienced in providing patent invalidity and non-infringement opinions, as well as patentability reports and right-to-use assessments.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Rothwell gained three years of experience preparing and prosecuting U.S. and Foreign patent applications, providing client counseling and preparing opinions at a large intellectual property boutique firm in the Washington, D.C. area. Prior to entering private law firm practice, Mr. Rothwell worked for three years as a staff IP litigation attorney for E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, where he provided counsel regarding litigation over IP transactions. Before his legal career, Mr. Rothwell gained three years of technical experience as a Medical Technologist working with robotics and diagnostic equipment used in performing serological assays for Quest Diagnostics.
